The fading embers of the fire cast dancing shadows on Sokka's face. Everyone else was asleep, but Sokka sat awake, staring into the crackling flames, deep in thought. He stood and walked over to where Toph slept. There was a chill breeze in the air that night and the blanket that Sokka had given Toph had slipped down a bit.
Of course at first Toph had rather brashly insisted that she didn't need it, and would not be otherwise convinced. Sokka had left the blanket and walked away, frustrated. Not only at her stubborn attitude, but at himself. There were so many things that he wanted to-needed to say, and yet he couldn't never bring himself to come out with what was on his mind. And so he stalked back toward the fire and sat himself down on the log that he had been using as a chair and grumbled. And yet, when he looked back a few minutes later, the earthbender was fast asleep under the blanket.

Now, a while later, it had slipped down below her shoulder and the young girl shivered slightly at the cold air. Sokka knelt down next to her and pulled the blanket back up over her trembling form. She visibly relaxed and was soon sleeping soundly once again.

The young warrior stood again and, looked down at her, resting at peace in the beautiful ignorance of sleep. Struggling with himself, unable to articulate what he wanted to say, he spoke softly, "Good night Toph."

He walked away from her then, and putting his boomerang over his shoulder. And Sokka of the Water Tribe walked away from her, out into the dark.

Hey all! Got another Tokka 100 pic for you guys. Had this one floating around in my head and on paper for a few days. It's darker than the previous pics in my 100, both literally and metaphorically. It's at night, therefore it's 'dark.' I was thinking about it being 'sleep' but there's no such category I can't claim that this is all me. The pose was inspired by a Ranma OVA. Sokka nd Toph take the place of Ryouga and Akane. I've always been a bit of a RyougaxAkane shipper and this moment in the OVA, even though it never happend in the manga, seemed to me to be one of the sweetest moments for the pairing. Admittedly it was only on Ryouga's side, but I really loved this part and I wanted to give a go at a version of it with Tokka.

As for that little piece of what I'd like to call literature at the beginning there, I dunno, I just felt kinda like I should write something for this one. This picture has so much to say, so much story behind it. The problem is that I don't know all of what that story is. I can feel it. It's there, but I have yet to articulate what it is. To me, it feels like Sokka's going somewhere and not telling anybody. Going somewhere where he doesn't know when or if he'll see them all again. I don't know where or why, but this pic feels really sad to me. It just looks like Sokka wants to do something so bad, and yet he finds that he can't. I really love the feel of this one.

Honestly, that whole feeling came from his shadowed face. Ryouga's face was shadowed, which I thought was really cool, so I wanted to do that with Sokka. Of course I realized that it was a bit more difficult since Ryouga had hair hanging in his face and Sokka's the utter opposite. So I had to do some extra work to get that to look how I wanted it to.

Not much else to say I suppose. Then again, I've already said plenty
